Local Things to Do

  • Benzie Area Historical Museum – Located in Benzonia, this museum houses many exhibits, including the Ann Arbor Railroad car ferries, Bruce Catton, the Civil War, logging, and early Benzie County history.

  • Betsie Valley Trail– Enjoy hiking or biking on the 22-mile long Betsie Valley Trail in Benzie County. Trailhead in downtown Beulah has parking.

​

  •  The Point Betsie Lighthouse – A local landmark and well known spot for photographers, this lighthouse has stood sentry on the Lake Michigan shoreline for over 100 years. The lighthouse is located a few miles north of Frankfort. Contact the Frankfort Chamber of Commerce for additional information.

  • Cannon in Father Charlevoix Park – For over a century this Civil War cannon has stood in the Father Charlevoix Park on Main Street in Frankfort. For more information contact the Frankfort Chamber of Commerce.

Benzie County Organizations

  • Benzie Area Symphony Orchestra – Volunteer musicians of all ages and from several Northwest Michigan counties, gather weekly in Benzie County to play a variety of music that is then performed in public concerts throughout the year.

  • Benzie Audubon Club – Among the club’s major objectives are promoting an appreciation for and a better understanding of the plants and animals of northern Michigan.

​

  • Benzie Community Chest – Representing and serving the overall interests of the citizens of Benzie County in matters concerning individual, community health and social well being.

  • Benzie Conservation District – Combating soil erosion, managing surface and groundwater quality and promoting the maintenance of the lands related resources and the aesthetic values are vital to the communitee’s long range economic well being, from food and timber production to natural resources related industries and tourism.

  • Benzie Sunrise Rotary – Providing guidance and opportunity for the youth of Benzie County. The “Sunrise Club” meets every Tuesday morning at 7:30 am at the Cold Creek Inn.
